What Is Laser Hair Removal?
We all have body hair—it’s completely normal. Whether you choose to keep it or not is a personal choice. But if you’re tired of constantly shaving, waxing, or tweezing, and want something that actually lasts, laser hair removal could be the game-changer you’ve been looking for.
At Sweet Lily, we use Cervello laser technology, a safe, powerful system that works on all skin tones to help you ditch unwanted hair, razor burn, ingrown hairs, and those pesky “strawberry legs” for good. It’s fast, effective, and way more comfortable than you might think.
Ready for smoother skin with way less effort? We’ve got you.
How Laser Hair Removal Works
How Laser Hair Removal Works with Cervello Technology
Laser hair removal might sound high-tech (because it is!), but the process is actually pretty simple—and super effective. At Sweet Lily, we use the Cervello laser, a powerful system that targets hair at the root using safe, controlled pulses of light.
Here’s how it works:
The Cervello laser emits light that’s absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in your hair. That light energy travels down the hair shaft and into the follicle, heating it up just enough to damage the follicle and prevent future hair growth—without harming the surrounding skin.
What makes Cervello stand out is that it uses three different wavelengths (755nm, 808nm, and 1064nm). This allows us to treat a wide range of hair types and all skin tones safely and effectively. Plus, with its built-in cooling system, treatments are way more comfortable than traditional lasers.
Most people need a series of sessions (usually 6 to 8), since hair grows in cycles and the laser can only treat active follicles. But with each treatment, you'll notice less regrowth, finer hair, and smoother skin.
Bottom line? Cervello gets to the root of the problem—literally—for long-lasting, low-maintenance results.
Understanding the Hair Growth Cycle
To really understand how laser hair removal works, it helps to know a little about the hair growth cycle. Your hair doesn’t all grow at the same time—it goes through phases, and that’s why multiple laser sessions are needed for the best results.
Here are the three main stages of the hair growth cycle:
Anagen (Growth Phase):
This is when the hair is actively growing and still attached to the follicle. Laser hair removal is most effective during this phase because the laser’s energy can directly target the root. Around 20–30% of your hair is in this stage at any one time.Catagen (Transition Phase):
This is a short phase where the hair detaches from the follicle and stops growing. Laser treatments aren’t effective during this time because the follicle isn’t actively producing hair.Telogen (Resting Phase):
In this final stage, the old hair rests in the follicle before eventually shedding and being replaced by new hair in the anagen phase. Again, laser treatment isn’t effective here.
Because not all your hair is in the growth phase at once, you’ll need multiple treatments spaced a few weeks apart to catch each hair at the right time. That’s how we get those long-lasting, smooth results.
At Sweet Lily, we time your Cervello laser treatments perfectly to work with your hair’s natural cycle—so you get the best, most effective outcome.
